Hey, I just wanted to deliver a Pizza !!!

When Amazon sent a delivery through drones the world cherished. Intellects thought its the new revolution which gonna change the world.

But when the same thing was attempted in Mumbai, if you expect the same kind of reaction and excitement from all the quarters, you are absolutely WRONG. Yes you heard me right.

Mikhel Rajani, the chief executive of Francesco Pizzeria of Mumbai carried out the first test delivery of sending a pizza though drone to a customer whose location was some 1.5 km away from his outlet. He recorded this stint and published it in You Tube and it was an instant hit. It almost have half a billion views tilll now.

But, the real story starts here. Mumbai Additional Commissioner of Police, Madhukar Pandey sent out a notice and demanded explanation for this act because an unmanned vehicle can't be used without seeking the necessary security clearance. The Mumbai Police also checked with the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at the Mumbai International Airport, whether the pizza outlet got any permission for this.

Given the Mumbai terror attacks and the threat for the Indian cities especially Mumbai, the apprehensions of the Police are completely acceptable. Francesco's drone never crossed the 400 feet altitude so they would not come under the regulatory purview, their contention is.

You may call Francesco's act as marketing gimmicks, but what they attempted is completely different, given the huge traffic jams of Mumbai. Let the government come up with a clear guidelines on this issue. Until then enjoy your pizza, dont worry how it is delivered to you, until it comes on time to you.

The strange correlation of 5 millimeters and 18%

Can you relate by any chance 5 millimeters and 18 % ???? And what does this relation has to do with Indian tobacco giant ITC ???? Can you guess it ?

Last friday, ITC came out with its Q4, 2014 results and the company profits jumped nearly 18%. Analysts attributed this jump in profit to an intricate aspect. I never thought it was such an important aspect and it have this much big impact.

ITC reduced the size of its low-priced cigarettes by 5 millimeters.  This helped ITC in two big ways. First ITC got eligible for lower government tax due to its small size. Second its profit jumped by 18 % as customer consumed it more.

Cant say, this might qualify for Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) too. But definitely yes, this is a Marketing Gimmicks.

Oops I am getting trolled for my troll

Sometimes things started for fun would land you in trouble. And the worst part it would start to hurt you very badly.

Zomato, the online restaurant discovery guide, recently wanted to play a fun game. It started with a post saying that it wanna make Delhi as the new official Tech Capital (But, Why ????) of India. It said it wanted to have all the best engineers, product managers and designers in one city. Its okay, a sensible thought. Nothing much could have happened.

But, it was followed by a rather sarcastic post "Honestly, we have a really hard time understanding Bangalore's tag as India's Tech capital. The more we think about it, the less sense it makes. Delhi has a lot more tech success stories than Bangalore."

Tada !!!! there things started to change. Many bangaloreans got furious and started uninstalling the Zomato app. This is addition to the mocking by the Zomato look like spoof sites. Suddenly a fun post landed Zomato into a sticky wicket where its loyal users got angry and upset, while in front of the spoof sites Zomato became a laughing stock.

Worse, people started giving the minimal rating in the App stores, dragging the overall rating. An healthy 4.5 rating in Google Play store has dropped to 4.3

Of late, Zomato realized the mistake and issued an apology statement. But it was too late. Its already hurt people and its reputation.

Oops I am getting trolled for my troll. An unwanted PR disaster indeed

Hey where is my 600 crores ????

You heard it right. The question was asked to the marketing guys who were responsible for the poll advertising account of the India's grand old party Congress.

When the rival BJP's ad campaign was managed by Piyush Pandey of Ogilvy & Mather, Prasoon Joshi of McCann World group and media planning veteran Sam Balsara and some other small players like WPP agency, Soho Square for a reportedly cheap (?) 400 crores, the grand old party engaged Japanese agency Dentsu, Taproot and Genesis Burson-Marsteller for handling its public relations. Being the ruling party congress' budget seems to be around 600 crores.

Over the last two months, Congress campaign failed miserably  to match the BJP ad blitz. Congress plan of projecting Rahul  as a young and dynamic leader out to empower the common man didn't reach out to the masses. The Modi wave decimated everything and and the tsunami engulfed everyone and everything it encountered.

The May 16 results are obvious against the grand old party and it made them furious and disappointed. Now they have no one of blame except the marketing guys and they have to give some tough answers.

Its Competition Dude !!!

The Online marketplace in India is getting hot in a big way. Bigwigs like Flipkart, Myntra, Snapdeal with their huge muscle power in terms of their PE backed funding are giving a big fight to global behamoth's like Amazon and eBay. Its the race for a place in Indian online marketplace.

When I was reading an article about the Amazon acquired Junglee.com  - Why is Junglee Selling Goods, Just Like Amazon? Here is Why It’s Cool I was fascinated by the way the online marketplace has changed the dynamics of the industry and how bigwigs are struggling to find place for them.

The sheer attraction was towards the visits Junglee.com was clocking. A whopping 10 million visits. I wonder who on earth would miss such an opportunity to monetize.

The shift from a mere price comparison site to the one which allows customers to buy products listed there, indicates the growing trend of fight for the dominance in the Indian Online Marketplace. So its not cool for Amazon to transform Junglee.com but the competition is hot which is forcing Amazon to do it.

Flipkart might acquire Myntra and turn Myntra into what Amazon had turned Junglee.com. Today's Livemint article Flipkart all set to buy Myntra confirms this move.

Alas its competition dude !!!

ANGER OUTCRY

This post is to question on behalf of the nation.

Where is Mr. RAJ THACKERY and his SENA group???

Do he now come out and ask whether these NSG commandos are from Bihar and UP?

Those NSG commandos are from North and South India whose sleepless nights making people like Raj have a better sleep without any fear for his life.

Where went his SENA at the time of Mumbai Massacre? Dont they see now that their own marathas are killed by these bull shit terrorists? Dont they come to save them?

There are lot of ways to woo people and he has to learn lesson from this incident.

Let we people ask these to think, speak and work sensibly.

An angry mourning Indian.
Please awake your sleeping thoughts at least by now.
